This is my final project for Com 1112, I enhanced my audio-story but fixing the over lapped voices in my previous copy. This made me have to rearrange my photos.
I really loved learned all about Audio/Video Software.
I learned a lot by adding animation to my Audio Story in order to enhance it. I added an actual text box and had it fade into the picture. I also added a text graphic it and had it move into the picture in order to make the effect pop more.
My Animation:
Problems:
I did not run into a lot of problems throughout this process other then having to redo my animation and position a few times in order to get my text into the right place on the picture. After, I redid my animation a few times I finally understood how to get text where I wanted it on the first try.
Conclusion:
I thought this project was fun, I did not realize how a few simple animations could enhance a project/video so much in order to make it look so much better. These few graphics really added to my video in order to help viewers understand my video as well as making it way more visually appealing.
For my still image project I found the "Selecting Shots" as well as the "Three-Point Edits" video very helpful, I really learned a lot from this video because it gives the user a lot of very simple easy shortcuts in order to make Premiere a lot more user friendly.
I also really found the "Export a Video File" video every helpful.I learned a lot from this video and found it very important to watch this video in order to successfully attached my premiere video to this blog post.
Below I have attached my Audio Story Podcast from Soundcloud. I asked experts and people on the street "Why they think the moon is bright"?. I picked this question thinking not a lot of people on the street would know the answer. However, after talking to my expert about Why the moon is acuatlly bright I discovered that my question and wording may have not been completely accurate to ask people.
This is my pervious audio from "People on the street"
Experts: My experts would be someone in the science field, specially someone in the astronomy department. I feel that someone in the science department would be the only ones to answer this question, due to the fact it is a very factual question and it can not be conversational topic. Transitional: This is my transitional song, I choose this song because it is very suspenseful which I like due to the fact it can build up the anticipation before we hear from the experts in the podcast.
Intro: I feel that this is a very good introduction into my podcast because it is a very happy upbeat song. I feel that the introduction song is one of the most important because it sets the whole tone of the podcast, so I want my podcast to be upbeat yet mystically since I am talking about space. Background: This song will just be my overall background music if needed. I really like this sound because it is very clam with no loud bass beats in the sound. I tried to pick a sound like this, so it will not take away or distract the listener from what I am trying to say in my podcast. Foley Sound: I had a really hard time trying to come up with what to do for my foley sound, I ended up using my hands to hit a desk. I used this sound to attempt to create a suspenseful sound.
Introduction: I asked people a question in order to try to catch them off a guard. I asked three different people the question "Why do you think the moon is bright"? I thought this would be a good question to ask, due to the fact I did not know the answer myself and most people would not be considered "experts" on this topic. However, it seemed that most people were sure of the answer until I asked them. Then most people started to question themselves. Editing:
When I edited my interviews together it was fun and more simple then I imagined. The things I focused on the most was the razor tool in order to edit out all the unnecessary content and in order to make it only 30 seconds. I also focused on making all the interviews sounds at the same level at about -12.
Voice Overs:At timestamp 5:06 there was a voicemail played from the nurse to the Podcasters dad, Tim. The voicemail was from a nurse who just told Tim he was off the waiting list and he now has an organ donor for a new lung. I love that this voicemail was placed into the podcast because it was such a sentimental moment for everyone involved.
Natural Sounds: During the podcast at timestamp 7:46 there was beeping of the hospital monitor and the air breathing machine. This natural sound really made you feel as if you were in the hospital with Tim and it added a lot of emotion into the podcast.
Ambient Sounds: There was serveal different ambient sounds in the podcast. For instance at timestamp 5:30 there was music that was played to catch the audiences attention as they told the news about Tim. Also at 16:36 there was intense music that played to make the feeling more dramatic.
Interview Clips: Throughout the whole podcast there was several interview clips inserted into the podcast as we heard the story from Tim's point of view and how he felt as he went through his Sarcoidosis journey. For example at timestamp 6:37 and 17:35, these were clips where we heard Tim talk and they really brought more emotion into the story.
Ira Glass' "Moments of Reflection"
In the beginning of the podcast I heard the anecdote easily, as Simon, the podcaster told the story of this dad. He told the story in a sequence of events starting from his father finding out he had Sarcoidosis and then ending when Tim received the lung replacement. After the lung transplant there was a moment of reflection on the whole journey. Tim was asked how he felt and when he finally realized he had a new lung, knowing he would not be sick anymore.
